You might be seeing a variety of items listed as Delta8 or D8, I’m here to talk about it. Delta 8 THC is a cannabinoid that is derived from CBD. Chemists have taken CBD and altered to give it a molecular structure almost identical to Delta 9 THC, that’s the compound that gets you high when you consume cannabis.
Is Delta 8 intoxicating?
Yes Delta 8 is intoxicating, it is usually derived from CBD but acts like THC when consumed.
Is Delta 8 safe to use?
In my opinion, yes. I have used Delta 8 products to test them out in order to give you an informed opinion. If I thought it was not safe to consume I wouldn’t have, that being said, it was created in a lab and we don’t have research on the long term effects of Delta 8 use on the body. Both of those reasons can be deal breakers for people depending on their personal beliefs, I fully support that choice.
Is Delta 8 legal in the US?
Well, it’s complicated. When the Farm Bill was passed in 2018 in the United States, the language of the bill stated that higher amounts of THC are prohibited there were not any other distinctions between Cannabis and CBC rich hemp. Technically yes, Delta 8 is federally legal in the US however, State and local governments are passing laws that are designed to prohibit Delta8 just like we have prohibited Delta 9. I recommend double checking the laws in your area if you are concerned about the legality of the compound.
What does it feel like when you use Delta8?
This is a very subjective question. When I tried Delta 8 I used the 3Chi Granddaddy Purple cartridge. It was a lighter high then I usually experience when I use Delta 9 cartridges, I didn’t feel as paranoid or anxious, it was very relaxing and lasted a shorter time then the same amount of Delta 9 would for me. Once again everyone reacts differently to cannabis, Delta 8 is no different. My experience may not be yours.
To sum up my thoughts on the matter, I do recommend trying D8 products in areas where they are legal. If the best we can do is give customers access to Delta 8 that is better then the widespread prohibition that cannabis has been under for decades. Would I rather have cannabis federally legal to be able to recommend it to people all across the country? Yes of course I would. People have a right to access to plant medicine period.
Have you tried Delta 8, please share your experience in the comments below.
Take care, and be kind!
